Displays and Continuous Provision

Supporting your child at home

Reading

Please read with your child at least 3 times a week. We will send home a decodable book and a 'book for pleasure' on a Monday and Thursday. Please ensure your child's books and reading record are in their book bag each day. Please sign your child's reading record to let us know you have read the book. Please also use the books available on bug club to read at home with your child.

Phonics

In our phonics lessons we will begin to learn the phase 2 sounds and tricky words. Each Friday we will be sending home a sheet with the sounds that we have covered in class that week. There are words for you to practise segmenting and reading at home with your child.

Continous Provision/ Free-flow

In Reception, our learning revolves around play and children will be given the opportunity to explore and investigate learning with independence.  As part of our continuous provision, during the day the children have the opportunity to independently choose which areas they would like to learn in, either the classrooms or our outdoor learning environment. Continuous provision enables the children to explore recent learning, practice new skills and follow their own interests in a variety of different hands-on and practical ways.Throughout the day there are also some whole class teaching sessions and focus groups.

Donations

The children use lots of different materials for arts and crafts. We would welcome donations of items such as pasta, lentils, sequins, buttons and junk modelling (cleaned recycling items e.g. cardboard boxes, plastic bottles etc.) The children are enjoying our water area outside! If you have any old wellington boots you would like to donate to the school, please let your child's class teacher know.
