5A English lesson

In English class 5A been learning about Macbeth and this week they have been looking at using evidence to explain a point. They used their scripts from the play to find evidence for their debate about who is to blame for the death of King Duncan.

Red, White and Blue Day - 6th October 2017

Today Friday 6th October the children came into school dressed in red, white or blue (or a combination of all three!) to celebrate women in the forces commemorating the 100th birthday of the Women's Royal Naval Service (WRNS) and the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps and exploring all the roles women have taken up when serving their country. The children brought in a £1, which will be sent to ABF The Soldiers' Charity, The RAF Benevolent Fund and The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity. Thank you to everyone for your kind donations.

No Pens Wednesday for 2M

For no pen Wednesday this week, children in 2M explored 2D shapes through different activities. We sorted real life 2D shapes into categories, created paintings of different types of transports by stamping with shapes and sorted shapes based on how many sides they have.

No Pens Wednesday for 5L

On Wednesday class 5L took part in "No Pens Wednesday" where the children (and teachers!) were not allowed to use pens all day.  In mathematics, we used calculators to solve different problems. We cracked codes, created words on the calculator display and tried to work out how we could answer questions if the number 6 was broken!  Why not have a go and answer this question.  How would you answer 132 / 6 if the number 6 button was broken?  Answers to Mr Looker on a postcard!

Class 2D maths investigations

2D have been investigating different ways of measuring different things in maths this week.  We had to concentrate to read the scales on each measuring instrument.

5S learn about Macbeth

The Young Shakespeare company visiting Year 5 to perform Macbeth. Every child had the opportunity to become a character in the play and took part in the end battle.
